ECHA ramps up dissemination of REACH dossiers
Agency aims to publish data on all 2010 registered substances by mid-May, other enhancements will follow. The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) has begun to increase the number of substances listed in its REACH dissemination database. While information on around 450 dossiers has been available for some time, a further 251 substances were added earlier this week. The agency expects to upload data from around 1,000 dossiers every couple of weeks until all substances registered by the 1 December 2010 deadline are disseminated, and aims to complete this work before the ECHA Stakeholders event which is scheduled for 18 May.
Last year, following a decision by ECHA's executive director, the agency announced that it would be registrants' responsibility to check the dissemination of information from their dossiers and successfully claim confidentiality if they wanted to prevent publication of certain business sensitive data. It launched a dissemination plug-in tool and gave companies until 1 March to update their dossiers if necessary.
